Breathing

Breathing

Breathe in.  Breathe out.
One.
Breathe in.  Breathe out.
Two.
Breathe in.  Breathe out.
Three.
   Breath after breath
       put end to end
          strung together, one after another
a chronic chain breather
filling each moment
    consciously unconsciously
    structure
              chaos
breath
until the last bit of air is drawn in

                                        until life is exhaled

                                                                   until a lifetime is fulfilled

Three.
Two.
One.

Balance

I am the line between yin & yang
Each piece of me resonates with the sound of the Universe
Be-ing
My spirit cries to be more than I currently am
My soul stands steadfast
knowing I'm already who I need to be
Breath fills my body
light fills my soul
at the same time that darkness envelopes my being
that causes me to gasp for sustenance
I taste the glorious sparkle of flight
While lifting each foot against the sucking mire of gravity
Until I achieve
balance
Until I achieve
While lifting each foot against the sucking mire of gravity
I taste the glorious sparkle of flight
that causes me to gasp for sustenance
at the same time that darkness envelopes my being
light fills my soul
Breath fills my body
knowing I'm already who I need to be
My soul stands steadfast
My spirit cries to be more than I currently am
Be-ing
Each piece of me resonates with the sound of the Universe
I am the line between yin & yang

Glimmer of Enthrallment

I looked in your eyes and saw infinity
Your breath mingled with mine and I tasted the beginning of time
You touched my hand and I felt the pillars of the universe move
I listened to your heartbeat and heard the roar of the waters of creation

My very being rested into yours as you
bared your soul to the essence of me

I spiraled with you
away from the profane
into the endless expanse of the sacred

Watching in amazement as new edifices
rose out of the chaotic ruin of the edge of infinity

The Persistence of Time (and other love songs)

Notes: In my mind, I hear this as a lullaby.  Once I hear more of it, it will be played and recorded. Thank you, Ni-Cara, for the title!-gmh

Slowly   slowly   slowly
ever so softly goes the time
Stretching across the distance

until I have nothing left to give
nothing left to hide

The smell of rain
   fills the olfactory nerves
making the world fill with
the musty dusty smell of
   dirt and wet concrete

Flowers grow until they fade
   then seed, die, rebirth
  sharing their bounty in
the cycle of life

Wheels roll ever onward
until there is no more ground
on which to roll
 And then they rocket
onto the sky, the moon,
the stars, the universe
leaving all else in its wake.

Leaving everything behind
in search for the ultimate
             question

Then the bowl tips
         the water spills
       and it all begins again

When death is imminent
and darkness looms
We can let go and face
the night with adventure in our hearts
with light inside our soul

When misery floods
    our very gates
and despair howls on our doorstep
We will stand with laughter on our lips
       a song within our eyes

People will see this
  and some will say,
"That gives me hope,
     to go on another day."

Others will look and declare,
"What the FUCK are they on?"

Still others will understand
    and join in the adventure
the light, the laughter,
         the song

in a show of solidarity
    to the
indomitable human spirit
that drives us to go on

Other Side of Tomorrow

I'll see you on the other side of tomorrow
I'll take your hand and we'll both walk through the sorrow

The path looks dark and the way's unclear
It seems there's no end in sight and we're full of fear
But I know we'll make it to the other side of tomorrow

When the winds of change make us think we've lost our way
We'll stand our ground and let the tempest rage
And we'll both be on the other side of tomorrow

We’re just tiny specks
of insignificant somethingness
flying through time & space on
a journey to nothingness
Reaching for the stars
before they’re snatched from our grasp

So I reach for your hand
knowing we’re going to follow this adventure together
even as we stand alone
on the other side of tomorrow

We’ll hoist future generations onto our shoulders
lifting them to heights we couldn’t even dream
And through them achieve immortality
On the other side of tomorrow

I'll take your hand and we'll both walk through
to the other side of tomorrow

Re-Forming Me

Re-Forming Me
I am standing my ground
            as the tempest roars
It swirls around me
threatening to rend my spirit from my soul
to shred all of time and space
to rip the essence of my being from the very fiber of my existence
I breathe in the chaos
tasting bitter
                  choking dust
            drawing in every last bit
knowing
there has to be clean air somewhere on the other side
sucking for my last gasping breath
Until there is nothing for me to do but exhale
I hold onto it a bit longer
terrified that the exhalations will
            redefine destruction
as the chaos
                        exits
         my being
I open my mouth to
            PUSH OUT
                        the enraged roar building
              within the inhaled
                    whirlwind
        held within my core
And
out flow blessings
out flows new growth
out flows sweet water
out flow fresh winds of change
I empty my lungs and turn myself
            inside out
to completely clear the murky hurricane
from every darkened doorway
                                    crevice
                                       and pore
of my conscious and unconscious selves
And
I inhale the changed storm
            realigning the regurgitated me
until I am once again whole
                        intact
            complete and
                                                            Still

Standing my ground
